Yalow Honors Scholar (Cohort 2022)

Major: Biochemistry

Minor: Psychology

I am a Yalow Honors Scholar at Hunter College majoring in biochemistry with a minor in psychology on the pre-med track. I conduct cardiovascular research in the Cao Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine, where I study zebrafish heart regeneration, focusing on guanine deaminase (gda) and macrophage-mediated repair, and have presented this work at conferences including ABRCMS, where I received a poster award. Alongside my research, I have extensive clinical experience as a dental assistant and have shadowed in internal medicine, gaining exposure to patient care and clinical decision-making. I also completed training in phlebotomy to further develop hands-on clinical skills. I am actively involved in mentorship and leadership, serving as a peer teaching assistant for general, organic, and biochemistry, a Yalow Scholar Peer Leader, and a pre-health mentor. I also contribute to community health and advocacy through roles in organizations focused on cardiovascular and lung health, as well as volunteering at a local food pantry.
